A “Tie One On” Buckaroo Boot Camp Weekend

June 18 - 20, 2010

A “One of a Kind” Western Pennsylvania Adventure/Experience with Patrick King of Patrick King’s Colt Starting and Horsemanship and Bob Sagely of Sage Horsemanship.

Clinic price is $225.00/person. Fee includes Saturday night "camp dinner". Boarding your horse can be arranged through Patrick King. People accomodations are to be arranged on your own. Greensburg and Latrobe, PA are minutes away from the clinic site.

Schedule –
Breakfast is on your own. There will be a concessionaire available for Friday dinner and Saturday/Sunday lunch or you can pack your own feed. Be saddled and ready to go at 9:00 AM sharp both mornings and at 4:30 PM on Friday. Check in begins at 3:00 PM.

FRI.

(1) Horsemanship Skills for the Cowboy/Buckaroo-

Riding skills and tips in the arena.

EATS are on your own. Concession available or pack your own feed

(2) Trail Ride with Patrick and Bob

(3) The Long Rope – Roping lessons on the ground.

You can spend this time learning about roping from the ground or learning how to accustom your horse to be around a rope with some exercises that will get him comfortable with you swinging and pitching the loop.

Warm-up Time – Work on your horsemanship issues with Patrick or practice your roping on the ground with Bob.

(4) Cattle Handling Introduction (Learning cattle handling savvy.)

LUNCH –
This will be a time for eating and for visiting with Patrick and Bob about horse stuff.

(5) Holding The Rodear,  Sorting and Penning
(Applying your cattle handling savvy.)

(6) Breakaway Roping Session with cattle or Dummy Roping Practice Session on horseback.

EATS –Campfire eats (burgers and dogs, beans and salad) provided by your hosts.

“CAMPFIRE” - (music, stories, popcorn, samores?)
(7) Gear of the Californio/Vaquero Traditions – The Bridle Horse of the Pacific Slope

SUN.

(8) “Holding Rodear” and “Breakaway/Laying Down Cattle Roping” Session

LUNCH –
This will be a time for eating and for visiting with Patrick and Bob about horse stuff.

(9) The Mock Branding – A simulation of roundup work in the branding pen.
