Hobbles
Hand-made, one at a time, by an individual craftsman that ensures the kind of quality you do not find from mass-production companies. Leather hobbles are made with Wickett & Craig saddle skirting or their fine english bridle leather. Stainless steel or brass buckles are used to prevent rust. Conchas can vary from cast zinc or brass to sterling silver plate. Most all our gear is made when ordered to reduce overhead in my one man shop. Below are some design possibilities from hobbles that have been made in the past. All styles are available on custom order with a three to five week delivery window.Visit our new storefront to place an order or email me for a price quote on a custom hobble design for you.
Custom designs are welcome and we will be glad to build that special, one-of-a-kind piece for you. Design possibilities are only limited by your imagination or preferences. They can include - Plain; single bead border; single bead border with simple border (shell or other border stamp styles); carlos meander border (with or without double bead edge and with or without shell stamp or other border stamp); running w border (with or without double bead edge and with or without shell stamp or other border stamp); basket stamped; crazy leg stamped; tri-corner basket stamped; floral carved; custom, hand-carved brand... or any combination of the above.

Figure Eight Hobbles
These figure eight hobbles have a 1 ½” wide roller buckle and are two-ply and stitched for strength and long life. They are a favorite of working cowboys and buckaroos from California to Texas to Montana and all throughout the Great Basin country of Idaho, Oregon and Nevada. Can be made-to-order from a plain, no-frills hobble to a variety of stamped and carved styles for a little good looking buckaroo flair on a very utilitarian piece of gear. Great for use by the back-country rider. Check out our new storefront to purchase the hobbles you want or email for details to order a hobble made just as you like. You can some possibilities listed below.

Vaquero Style Hobbles
These traditional style hobbles are made with a modern tech flair. Using either nylon parachute cord for the braided type or high tensile climbing rope for the single rope style these use no metal buckles, chains or snaps to close around the horse's legs. The rope style is tied from a single strand of 1/4" (or thicker on request) using the Spanish fiador knot found on the throatlatch of a traditionally rigged jaquima (hackamore).

Use these at your own risk. Please use only on hobble-trained horses. If inexperienced in the use of hobbles for restraining horses you should only do so under supervision. This style hobble is not intended for use as training hobbles to train a horse to accept hobbling. So don't do that, please.
