Horseman's Alamar Necktie or Horsewoman's Alamar Necklace
Qty:
Price: $15.00
Shipping: $2.50
The traditional alamar was a fancy way of tying up your get down rope for a long journey when it would not be needed for awhile. It was also a "courting" knot, tied with love for the señorita and adorning your favorite mount as an intricate breastplate. Here it is a fancy necktie or necklace. The knot has been stitched together at each cross to keep it from upsetting or becoming unbalanced in appearance. Adjusts to length with the sheet bend knot. Please supply collar or neck measurement for adjustable length sizes.

Pictured are two different braided knot scarf slides. Each is made from a single string of Italian calf skin. The one on the left is a gaucho knot of two passes (a single string goes over two and under two as it passes around the knot). The one on the right is a pineapple knot, commonly found on the mota of a mecate or covering the heel knot of a bosal. Both have a leather core and will stand up to a little wear and tear because of that.
